Cosmic Sunshine provides the option to purchase an E-Gift card via our online store. There are a number of legal guidelines that we must follow as a store in order to be able to issue the cards for our customers.

Expiration 

In line with Australian Law, Cosmic Sunshine gift cards expire 3 years from their date of purchase. Customers should make full use of their gift card within the three-year period. Once the three years has elapsed the gift card balance will expire regardless of its previous balance. Upon expiry, the gift card can no longer be used to make a purchase and its effective balance will reduce to zero. 

Restrictions on use

Cosmic Sunshine gift cards have two restrictions placed upon them. Gift cards purchased via our online store are only redeemable for online purchases. They cannot be redeemed at physical stores or pop-ups.  

Our gift cards cannot be redeemed for cash (or currency equivalents) at any point. 

Balance

The gift card is loaded with a certain value at the time of purchase. The certain value is decided by the customer at the checkout. When a purchase is made with a gift card, the value of that purchase reduces the balance on the gift cad. The card will hold the remaining balance until another purchase is made where the process will repeat until the balance of the card is zero or it expires. 

Making a purchase with a gift card that ends up with a remaining balance (Purchase was less than the total gift card value) does not reset the 3-year time period for expiration.

Lost, Damaged or Stolen 

Unfortunately, we are unable to replace lost, stolen or damaged gift cards. Once the gift card is issued, Cosmic Sunshine is not responsible (outside of its statutory obligations) for the security of the card.

Returns

Due to our Anti-Money Laundering policy and obligations, returns and refunds made on a product purchased with a gift card will be loaded back onto a gift card. This is in line with our policy of returning all purchases to their original payment method. 

The actual purchase of a gift card cannot be returned. All purchases of our gift cards are final.

Promotional Gift Cards 

Cosmic Sunshine can issue promotional gift cards at their discretion. These promotional gift cards are exempt from the minimum expiration requirements under Australian Law. Cosmic Sunshine therefor reserves the right to pick and choose how long promotional gift cards are valid for. Cosmic Sunshine will base expiration dates for promotional gift cards in the context that they are issued with. We will communicate directly to the person receiving the promotional gift card of the expiration date.
